Get Involved

How To Get Involved

Getting involved is easy! One of the best ways to show your interest is to attend and participate in the association’s networking and learning events offered throughout the year. All programs organized and offered by the CPMEA are open to CPM employees only. Another way to be more actively involved is to lend your time by volunteering on one of the committees. See below for event descriptions and more details on volunteering. To connect with a CPMEA Executive member to discuss your interests, please complete the Get Involved Form.

Program / Networking Events

Lunch & Learns

Offered anywhere from 3-6 times per year, lunch and learns are typically 45-50 minute training or presentation sessions scheduled during the lunch hour from 12:00-1:00 PM. All CPM employees are encouraged to bring and enjoy their “lunch” while “learning” something new. Topics range from skills based sessions to professional or personal development type sessions. Either way, you are guaranteed to walk away with something new! Click here to see the Events Calendar for upcoming sessions.

Membership Breakfast
An annual event, the CPM membership breakfast is a time to come out and meet CPM colleagues from across our community. Building on efforts to increase membership engagement and strengthen the connections between new and existing CPMs at the University, all while introducing something new in the form of a distinguished guest speaker, the annual membership breakfast is a great time to learn about the association, its current initiatives and goals, all while enhancing your professional network.

Annual General Meeting
Adhering to the terms set out in the CPMEA Constitution and By-Laws, the association’s annual general meeting is held in May of each year. The AGM is a key component to the continued successful operations of the CPMEA as it is the one time of year that all business requiring membership approval occurs. This includes but is not limited to:

  • voting in / execution of membership elections
  • review and approval of Executive reports pertaining to the association’s planning and financial activities
  • review and approval of any amendments to existing Constitution and By-Laws

Other significant highlights of the AGM includes key note speakers who provide summary reports on institutional priorities and initiatives and guest speaker presentation. This is another great time to meet and engage with CPM colleagues community-wide.

Other Opportunities
On occasion, additional learning and/or networking opportunities may arise or a special meeting may be called by the Executive to address topics or items of import to the membership. Regardless of the nature, at least 14 days notice will be communicated to all CPMs as it becomes available.

Please note that unlike the lunch & learn sessions, that always occur during an employee’s lunch hour, both the Membership Breakfast and Annual General Meeting runs for 2 hours starting at 9:00 a.m. As such, we encourage special consideration be given so CPMs can attend.
